EXPERIENCED LEADERSHIP.

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

ABOUT STEVE

Steve Monachello was born and raised in the area that is now St. George, La. He was a supporter of the St. George incorporation efforts from the beginning. As a current member of the interim city council, Steve is committed to helping shape the future of St. George, and he is now seeking a full term in District 2 to continue his work in service to the community.

Steve is a graduate of Lee High School and LSU. Steve has spent over 40 years in public service, with a distinguished career in law enforcement. He began his career as a full-time deputy with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office before transitioning to the Louisiana State Police. Over five years with LSP, Steve’s dedication and expertise led him to join the U.S. Department of Justice’s Drug Enforcement Administration as a special agent. His time with the DEA was marked by significant achievements, ultimately rising to the rank of group supervisor before his retirement. It’s also where he earned his nickname, Chili! After retirement from the DEA, Steve sought to continue serving in law enforcement in a new capacity, joining the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. As a special agent assigned to a FEMA Fraud Task Force, he focused on combating fraud and ensuring integrity within federal disaster relief efforts. Today, Steve works as a federal background investigator with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

Steve’s commitment to his community extends beyond his professional career. He and his wife, Mary, are proud parents of three daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is an active member of St. George Catholic Church, where he participates in the St. George Men’s Club and the “That Man is You” ministry. Steve is a lifelong fan, supporter, and tailgater of LSU.

WHY I'M RUNNING

My deep passion for this community is the driving force behind my decision to run for office. Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated myself to serving others, and now I’m eager to bring that same commitment to the place I proudly call home.

I want to continue working together to build a city where every family has the opportunity to thrive, our neighborhoods are safe, and we preserve the values and quality of life that make St. George special.
